Cruising from Denarau marina to Bounty island, we pass the tiny South Sea Island. This island is perfect for honeymoons.
 South Sea Island
5 minutes later we arrive at Bounty Island and a small motor boat is waiting for us.
On the beach, we are welcomed by the guitars and songs of a few Fijian and offered a lunch made of salads and fruit salads buffet.
My advice: enquire about the nature of the meals. From resort to resort on the same island, you can end up with a meal composed of noodles with no sauce or enjoy a festive barbecued meal with fresh food.
 Bounty Island
There is good snorkeling, the water is warm and the snorkeling equipment is free. The coral is living and there are many beautiful blue sea stars and new tropical fishes.
Beware of the poisonous sea snakes, don't tickle them.
You can walk around the island in about 20 minutes and on the opposite side, you will see the abandonned villa of a 20M$ UK TV serie.
In the evening, there is a traditional Fijian welcome ceremony and you will be introduced to the Kava.
The Kava is a drink made from the pounded roots of a pepper plant. Good stuff is at least three years old, fine quality is six years old, and the twelve year old stash is saved for special occasions. It has a slight narcotic effect which you can feel after a few cups. It tastes a bit like water with mud.
 Welcome Ceremony
It's used by the Fijian women before giving birth.
Here is how the welcome ceremony is performed:
1.
Everybody sits on the floor of the ceremony hall, facing the local chief and his spokeman and a few other fijians.
2.
As we come from all over the world, we have to elect a chief and his spokeman.
3.
The chief offer to our new chief a cup of Kava.
4.
Our chief claps his hands 3 times before drinking.
5.
Everybody clap hands 3 times while our chief is drinking.
6. Finally, our chief claps hands again 3 times.
7. Then everybody get a cup Kava server from a half-coconut shell ('bilo).
