On the way to Monoriki (Tom Hanks' Cast Away Island), we drop a few honeymooners at beautiful Tokoriki Honeymoon Island.
We are then arriving at the Nanuya village on the isolated Island of Nanuya. It's a special place.
Have look at this coral and snorkeling wonders...
Before we go ashore, the guide gives a "village briefing" that explains what to expect and what not to do:
Don't wear sunglasses or a hat (only the chief can), don't pat the kids on the head, don't point your feet at the Kava bowl or at the chief, and be sure to wear shorts under your sulu in case if falls off.
Nobody is snorkeling here. All the children are at school.
Entering the village, we are puzzled by the poverty of the place: they own The Cast Away Island where the movie was filmed.
Is this child training for the coconut tree climbing? Anyway, he is so cute!
What is this Fijian fruit? (I don't know).
The visit includes a stroll through the village before we gather in the large meeting hall for a Welcome Ceremony with Kava. The son of the chief is present.
